It needs to focus on the Customer file and related data as it is reflected in my QuickBooks system including the additional data that is stored in the customer file i.e. Customer Categories. Filters (Groups) are necessary for targeted sales and marketing - Version 1 here is too simple, but I can't complain for $10 a month.

Syncing with QuickBooks

[02/05/2010]  The Sync function with QuickBooks has been and continues to be the one function that make this product un-usable. My people are forced to enter the information in QuickBooks and then again within the CMO. QuickBooks keeps generating error messages that the Sync cannot occur, and I have forwarded the error log to their Tech staff. I did spend the better part of the day on the phone with one of their senior CMO tech, and we sync'd for a short period of time, but that has been the only viable transfer of information. This problem has been existing since the Beta version in July of last year.

Need to be able to view Jobs completed under Customers

[02/05/2010]  This product has great potential...but needs major modification. I HAVE TO be able to see all the history of JOBS completed for my customers. Right now, we can only see the main customer heading in the customer list...not any jobs or transactions, contacts, numbers, or notes listed as Jobs under that particular customer. I hope this gets addressed very quickly...it would create sooo much flexibility, accessibility, and efficiency in the work place. I still have hope and high expectations for this product... again, tons of potential.

Should work with outlook, should have more customization of the fields, should work for all companies, not just business to business. Great Idea, but it has a long way to go!

[01/19/2010]  We use and love QuickBooks Online and Paycycle, and when I saw that we could upgrade our local QuickBooks Customer Manager to an online version, I was delighted, but I am not delighted at all with the product. It does not have the user friendly architecture of the pc based program, is very very slow and often will not save names after entering all the data. Logging in is archaic with no auto fill feature or the ability to remember a password.

Also, when I go from an edit back to the "Groups" page, the Back button sends me out of the program so I have to begin again. It is very confusing why associated contacts land on the customer list. Their names make customers difficult to organize. We know our customers by company name, not by their purchase manager. Lack of options in formatting, slooooow operation for data entry, inability to group and organize---this program fails me.

[01/15/2010]  This is my first day of using Intuit's Customer Manager online, but it has run terribly slow. Even before I uploaded my QuickBooks data file, which contains a few thousand customers and their data, it was running questionably slow. Even simply tasks such as editing a calendar event seem to cause a 5-20 second delays. More processing power is needed to run this application for users. This is just my 30-day free trial and already I'm not impressed.

I think they need to pull it and make it Intuit quality before rolling it out. Don't frustrate people who take the time to mess with it.

Exchange Server and Outside Sales Input

[12/23/2009]  This could be the ring that ties them all together. The bottom line is that there are fragmented solutions all over the web and nobody has the power or foresight to really tie it all down for the business owner. QuickBooks is the best, Exchange Server and Outlook are the best, so how come this solution doesn't tie them together. Using the contacts, email, calendar, tasks from exchange sync to QuickBooks and the Intuit CRM and... the magic ticket…. allow outside sales people to input sales orders that automatically populate into QuickBooks in our office. The contact data goes into exchange public folder so that it’s easily accessible via iPhone or Outlook. It should be pretty obvious to any developer at Intuit if you really talk to your customers about what we need. So if you are really listening and you provide us with this solution, then you will reap the rewards. MSFT has been trying to do this for 4-5 years and they are still dragging their feet. I won't upgrade my accounting system until there is a single unified solution from 1-2 vendors, I don't want 4-5 to make this work. My 2 cents.

I really wanted this to work so I had an integrated system with QBO. I think they will eventually get to where this is good, but now it is a waste of money. They should still keep it in beta and develop it more.

[12/06/2009]  This is in no way shape or form a CRM for business. One of the first things I noticed is the URL for your personal workplace. It's just a jumble of letters with no connection to your business. "https://workplace.intuit.com/db/bexujzuke" Secondly, the website only works 1/4 of the time. I have issues in IE, Chrome, and Firefox. It took 20 minutes to just get to the main page initially. I was hoping that the effort would be worth it, but once I got in there I saw that there is almost zero functionality. I really don't have the time to wrestle with a buggy web-app. If I could create invoices, see open invoices, create estimates then this would have value. But this is a scheduling tool, nothing more. You can add new customers sure, but that's about it. I can do all this for free with Google Sync to my Outlook and other mobile devices, and print and create invoices remotely with LogMeIn. This is is not worth even the free trial, let alone a monthly subscription.

[12/02/2009]  I started using this about a month ago. I was excited to use it as there is a large need. I'd like to be able to access the info via the Internet. I'd like to get rid of ACT!. However it needs some work and I see you’re coming along. I need to be able to create a user for a sales rep and have him/her only see their customers. Also I need to import 12,000 contacts and not have them sync with QuickBooks. Then when I add new customers in either C.M. or QuickBooks, be able to select sync or not. And finally when it’s time to do my monthly mail out I need to be able to export to excel the list of customers and then I will filter out with excel the sales rep customers I want to mail too. OK Make me proud.

[12/02/2009]  We currently use salesforce.com for customer info and task management. Customer Manager definitely lets us down for managing tasks specific to a customer. You can only add info to the task in 1 line. It would be nice to be able to add a lot of info to the task if needed. It would also be nice if you could display only "your assigned" tasks and only for the current day on the home page. Currently all tasks show all of the time. Also, you should be able to search the customer by e-mail address.

[12/01/2009]  The value to my company is tremendous. I can have outside office keep up, and work in the field. For a start up on a database, this works and the potential is awesome. The need is there for access to information. The support thru email has been awesome, and I am one of those that would rather pick up the phone, I hate email tech support, I normally would not even fool with email only tech support, I would move on, VERY IMPRESSED. The print feature is needed and from what I understand will be added shortly, I am hoping.

[11/29/2009]  Needs a lot of work yet. Using the link in QuickBooks it tells me I don't have an account and tries to get me to buy it. Go to the website and it works fine. I often get service unavailable and to try back later and that Intuit is aware of the problem. Sync Manager says there is no company file to sync with, but support doesn’t mention what to do when this happens. Overall, it’s a very poor attempt at a viable CRM solution.

I have had problems uploading my QuickBooks data, the support system is difficult to find answers in, and a question that I sent to the contact us page has been left without response. Overall, I don't understand why they think that at this point the service is past the beta testing phase and worthy of a subscription service. I would not be averse to trying it again, but I for sure am not going to pay for it at this point.

Sync duplicates contacts when using online apps

[11/19/2009]  Given the sheer number of CRM tools available today, Intuit should have produced a much better first draft of the CMO. I know they were going for ease of use - which I'm all for - but they skimped on some of the basic components of most contact managers. If nothing else the tool should feature the functionality and logical layout of an Outlook contact record. It's disappointing to have something that would help centralized the client process within the Intuit/QuickBooks world be so devoid of real functionality. I'll check back in a year to see the progress made.

[11/10/2009]  I like this application and I have been using it for about a month. It provides most of the functionality that I need. I have two suggestions. First, it would be nice to have the invoices, past due and payments resident in this system. It would save time from toggling back and forth to QuickBooks for that information. Second, the application availability seems a little unstable. It may be my browser, but it frequently requires me to sign out and then sign in again to re-establish contact. This is very irritating and slows down my work every day. I am sticking with it at this time in the hopes that this will improve.

[11/05/2009]  Whenever I use this I can't do anything at all in this program or any other. It simply stops everything, as it takes 1 or more minutes to process even a simple task such as checking a box to state it’s complete. I have a good system, with 2 GB of ram so this is not the issue. Every program halts, and my mouse won't even move until this beast has finished doing whatever it needed to take all that time to do.

[10/30/2009]  The startup and transition from beta to live was a little bumpy (for us anyways!) - but customer service at Intuit went above and beyond to get our account working! Thank you Anna, Scott, and Lisa!! The calendar functions are very good (better than WebEx's) which we can soon cancel and save huge $$$'s! The current app is not a full blown CRM replacement (yet), but we have been an Intuit customer for years - and we've seen how they constantly improve their products. We're confident that while sitting on the bleeding edge of Customer Manager today, we will be very happy with the end result. Again, we are extremely pleased with Intuit's customer service, and look forward to having our sales data and management linked to QuickBooks!

There are 100s of features absent in the customer manager, including recurrence ability, bulk e mails, labels, etc. I don't think that I will pay $10 a month for that.

[10/28/2009]  This program is poorly put together. I have tried to rectify my issues to no avail. If you use it, be sure you have a paper back-up. There is no way to neither print your calendar nor back it up. If those problems are taken care of after I post this review my only other MAJOR complaint was the fact that we have been unable to access the calendar and lost all of our appointments. The tech. that called to try to help us said the engineers mistakenly "tagged" several clients and it will take hours of being on the line with her to straighten it out. I am not impressed.

[10/27/2009]  I have only signed on for the first time. While it appears to be interesting, the exchange rate is slow and fields seem to freeze on the screen. Won't work for my fast pace. Keep working on it though..... I have high hopes for the product. It's just not there yet.
